ALTAR SERVERS
Becket has a wonderful group of Altar Servers. Any young person who has received their First Communion and who is interested in serving is encouraged to join. From September to June altar servers and leaders meet once a week. In addition to learning to serve, these young people engage in a variety of extra-curricular activities.

BAPTISM PREPARATION TEAM
The Baptism Team is composed of 4 teams: either married couples or 2 or 3 people working as a team. They represent our Parish with the priest or deacon who will preside the Baptism Liturgy and first welcome new babies and their parents to our community at the Baptism Meeting the week before the celebration. The “front line” member of the team is the Parish Secretary, who receives the requests, give parents basic information about the celebration, dates, godparents and any other information they can provide. During the meeting with parents and/or godparents, either a video on Baptism is shown, or Scripture texts are read and a discussion follows. Team members then provide – on a walk about the church – all the practical information families might need in anticipation of the celebration; which they also attend – setting up beforehand, welcoming families, and having them read and sign the register, calling up readers and the individual families at the moment of Baptism. Baptism celebrations usually take place on the third Sundays of each month.

EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS
Extra-ordinary Ministers of Communion join the ordained Ministers of Communion in offering the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ to the Assembly during the celebration of the Eucharist. Some Eucharistic Ministers also visit the sick and bring the Holy Eucharist to those who are unable to join the Assembly for worship.

LECTORS
The Lector is the medium through which God's word is communicated to the assembly. Lectors do not read the Scriptures "to" people but rather help create for the assembly an experience of God's presence, of Jesus' presence in the WORD. It is important to know that one does not have to be an orator or public speaker to be an effective lector.

LITURGY COMMITTEE
The Liturgy Committee members plan and implement themes and liturgical enhancements to highlight the special seasons such as Advent and Lent. All parishioners are welcome to come and join in the work of the Parish Liturgy Committee and in the Liturgy itself. They meet once a month.

ALTAR GUILD
Our Altar Guild is responsible for such things as the care of the sacred vessels, the cleaning of the sanctuary, and the altar linens. We also decorate the Church for feasts such as Easter and Christmas. All welcome.

GREETERS AND USHERS
These ministries consist of men, women and youth who make themselves available at all of the masses and other functions of the church.

Greeters, welcome people as they enter the church with a friendly "Hello", "Good Morning", etc. They hand out missalettes or open the door as a means of establishing contact and creating a welcoming environment.

Contact: Norma Cook (514-620-2019) for more information.

Ushers, control crowds, help people find seats, take up collections and hand out bulletins as people leave the church.

RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS
The R.C.I.A. program is a faith journey undertaken by those wishing to join us in full membership in the Roman Catholic Church or those who are already Catholic but wish to be confirmed in the church. Members of the parish become fellow-travelers on this journey of faith and conversion or act as sponsors for the various candidates.
